I’m absolutely delighted to announce the line-up of artists, speakers and special guests taking part in The Circle’s inaugural SISTERS event!

@celeste @misanharriman @nadineshah @rioghnachconnolly @claraamfo + some surprise guests on the night!

It’s been amazing to have so many of my favourite artists answering the call to support @thecirclengo’s mission of empowering women and girls globally. The fact that tickets sold out in minutes, has been life affirming, especially as I recently celebrated my 70th year on the planet!

I’m thrilled we can still offer a chance to attend, via the ‘For One Night Only’ (@fonoevents) prize draw, which includes access to the show and my soundcheck.
The money raised will help support some of the world’s most marginalised women and girls. As women’s rights are being rolled back, the need has never been greater

Over these last few days of apparent ‘ceasefire’ I’ve been feeling truly sombre.. realising the full effects of this entire scenario, and what might yet be ahead.
I’m delighted for the freed hostages and their families, who have unquestionably undergone a living hell since Oct 7th. I hope these releases can continue on both sides.
I came across this clip today…At least 18,130 dead children represented here - spanning almost 8kms - taking 95 mins to walk.
41 % unreported deaths are predicted, which could mean up to 25,000, which will climb again as children return to
life threatening circumstances.
It leaves me feeling absolutely numb with horror.
This MUST all be accounted for.

by the outstanding writer and columnist - @owenjonesjourno ..
It’s brave and candid.. and it needs to be understood.
The Western media has been complicit in ignoring the genocidal actions that have taken place in Gaza.
I now realise more fully how false information, gas-lighting and deceit can cover up and distort horrendous atrocities.
The premise of International Human Rights has been eroded to the point where it feels like they neither apply or exist any more. This will most likely indicate a new world order.. ‘Freedom of Speech’ will also become a thing of the past, while journalists only repeat the fake news and fake truth concocted by media tycoons, corporate businesses and politicians.
If it weren’t for the brave Palestinian journalists who risked and lost their lives doing their job, our awareness as to what was actually happening on the ground.
Pray this ‘ceasefire’ lasts.

All I’ve ever advocated for has been a call for the cessation of violence and an end to the carnage and destruction we’ve been witnessing in horror since Oct 7th 2023.
I am outraged that Western governments are behind this genocide.
They all invested tax-payers money from the US - Canada - the UK - France - Australia etc..
to literally kill new born babies, babies and toddlers, young children - children and adolescents…elderly, injured, infirmed and disabled. Entire families…writers, academics, artists, doctors, nurses, care-workers, ambulance drivers. Journalists. Aid workers and teachers, professors, students, workers.
There’s not ONE aspect of the population who’s not been overwhelmingly and disproportionately affected by this continuous genocidal horror show…
Don’t be fooled by the smart ‘suits’ - the smooth rhetoric and clever sound bites.
They’ve all drunk the Kuleaid and are blinded by greed and power.
If they ever had a shred of humanity - it’s been long gone.

The ceasefire will be called into effect on Sunday 19th January.
From my perspective.. knowing that bombs will still be falling on Gaza until Sunday, I have to say CEASEFIRE sounds great, but we have to hold caution before celebrating. Gaza has been absolutely devastated. Tens of thousands of men, women and children have undergone continuous bombardment for almost 15 months..The slaughter and carnage - wounding, starving, burning, destruction of every part of infrastructure..
Entire families wiped out.
The torture, starvation, amputation of limbs ( often without anaesthetic) - disease, freezing cold rain, wind, ethnic cleansing - nowhere safe..
The destruction of schools, hospitals, universities, homes, churches,mosques.. historic buildings… The list of sadistic cruelty endured by the Palestinian people is indescribably brutal, in a way that has made me feel unspeakably horrified and deeply ashamed of the entire global system, with it’s industrial military complex.
I almost lost my entire faith in every aspect of it all. Except for those who stood up and called it out. You have my deepest respect and appreciation!!!

Please take a moment to watch and listen to this highly compelling message from a young Palestinian journalist, in an earnest appeal to the world to acknowledge the desperate plight of the GENOCIDE that has been largely ignored by the international media.

How utterly shameful and bizarre that Western media have ignored a GENOCIDE that has been playing out for almost 15 months in plain sight!

I cannot understand how it must feel to be in a profession whose purpose is to cover world news - but doesn’t. I can only speculate that Western journalists must have been given orders from ‘the top’ or threatened in some way.
I can appreciate that journalists might be afraid of losing their jobs, but so far I haven’t heard of any whistleblowers who’ve said words to that effect.
The Guardian newspaper has been one of the few exceptions…(Shout out to the formidable @owenjonesjourno !)

Where we are today with regards to the conditions of the 2.2 million people of Gaza who are forced to endure 3 war crimes taking place at the same time!!
1. GENOCIDE
2. ⁠COLLECTIVE PUNISHMENT and STARVATION
3. ⁠ETHNIC CLEANSING
Four major cities have been razed to the ground completely.
90 per cent of Gazans have been ethnically cleansed. Forced to leave their homes, they are barely surviving in the worst conditions imaginable.
They have no proper food and no clean water, as well as the dire situation with medical treatment and health care.
On average, every Gazan gets sick three times a month. There are almost no basic medical supplies and ‘shelter’ consists of flimsy, freezing, leaky tents.
No less than 55,000 people have been killed, including 17,000 children and at least 13,000 women.
108,000 people have been injured.
The number of Palestinians killed is larger than all the American wars since the war of independence in the USA. 86,000 tons of explosives have been dropped on Gaza, which means 36 kilograms of explosives for every man, woman and child.
