From the DIVA exhibition at the V&A..
This is a ‘real deal’ corset from the late 19th Century. I’m sure many anthropological books have been written on the subject of fetishising of the female form.
It makes me think of Chinese foot binding… not much difference really.
Beauty ideals can be a LOT to live up to…🤔😖

One thing I will say - The culture of misogyny and abuse against women and girls everywhere around the world can no longer be accepted as ‘normalised’ behaviour.
That’s it. Plain and simple.

Sweet Dreams Were Made of This!
Havin’ a brilliant time at The Theatre Royal Drury Lane..
Everyone worked so hard after months of preparation and one day of rehearsals to put it all off ! - A Vogue World event, raising £2m to support ‘Arts and Performance’ in the UK.
Big love to all you singers, models, actors, dancers, creators, writers and folks who work behind the scenes to make it all happen! ❤️ @britishvogue #vogueworld

A sweet encounter with a pair of very worn black satin shoes. found under the floorboards of a Victorian town house. Apparently if was a fairly common custom to hide a pair of shoes like this to bring good fortune to the household, back in the day…
These survived the 2nd World war.. where London was being bombed continuously…
Thinking of all the countries and populations who are going through the disastrous consequent of climate emergency…
We need even more than luck shoes peeps.. ❤️🎶

Back to wearing my mask again.. 😬
There’s a tide of COVID comin’ through.. I have friends who’ve been affected recently.
I really don’t mind wearing my mask if it helps me to avoid coming down with it.. Stay healthy peeps! ❤️

Since living in the US I’ve come to have a deeper understanding of the history of the country.
Founded on systems of slavery, genocide and barbarity… like many countries all over the world.
Colson Whitehead’s exceptional book is a challenging read.
I feel it ought to be on every school curriculum..Every child in the US and elsewhere should know these truths.
If you don’t realise the full effects of historical slavery and racial abuse, then you’re living in a kind of ignorance or denial.
It’s part of our collective responsibility to fully grasp the historical background of ‘racism’ - not only in America, but all over the world.
I highly recommend you read this book if you haven’t done so already. Love Annie
