Sometimes you’ve just gotta hug a tree…
I’ve seen so many urban spaces lacking trees and greenery. Grey concrete estates, with nothing but abandonment and defacement. Trees in these places are usually thin and unhealthy looking, with wire around them for protection. When people have a chance to ‘green’ an unused lot – magic happens.. Flowers grow, plants bloom.. Suddenly there is joy.
In New York I’ve seen this kind of remarkable transformation take place in empty lots between buildings when formerly there was nothing but rubble. ( Bette Middler has had a lot to do with this- check it out! )
I hugged this beautiful tree in Kew Gardens last year…
It was established well before I came to London and it will stand long after I’m gone. I love every tree I see and am truly grateful for their presence on this Earth.
