More Experiences

Following on from my last blog about the most memorable performances, I thought it would be funny to recall some other experiences/memories.. EURYTHMICS performing live outdoors at Red Rocks in a total deluge of thunder, lightening and rain. The audience were completely soaked, but they stayed with us..Everything was drenched..the band, the crowd, the crew, the stage, the equipment..it was wild. EURYTHMICS performing at an outdoor festival in Finland..most of the audience were completely wrecked..mad drunk and it was only mid afternoon. Halfway through the set an empty vodka bottle came flying through the air, missing my head by centimetres. At which I went completely ballistic, challenging the f…..er who threw it to come up and face me! Later on, when The Jam were playing, the audience apparently got hold of the sound system and lobbed in the near bye lake…Nuts. Performing at a gig in Croydon South London years ago with The Tourists..the crowd were the usual mix of punks skinheads and something in the middle. A fight broke out, and I have the disturbing image of the silhouette of a hammer coming down on someone’s head in the distance..don’t know still if it’s just a figment of my imagination. Performing with EURYTHMICS in Houston Texas, wearing leather trousers and coats in the midst of heat wave Summer. Add in the extra intensity of stage lights…thought I was going to die. Swigging down Gator Aid and oxygen side of stage. Everything drenched in sweat. Performing at an outdoor festival in New Zealand where the crowd were completely drunk..Maori Hells Angels had been hired as bouncers. Totally insane. I thought the people in the first few rows were going to be crushed to death. Horrible actually. Performing with EURYTHMICS at an outdoor festival right next to the Berlin Wall before it came down. Apparently there were hundreds of people on the other side, listening to the concert. The Tourists supporting Roxy Music on a tour of concert halls….We thought we’d died and gone to heaven…well..I did! Performing live in Central Park on a one off concert for DIVA one summer’s evening, with everybody singing the words all the way through. …….there’s so much more…
