On the 25th January 2008, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, a group of powerful and influential women met to talk about some of the key issues facing women globally today.
At the fore of these issues, many identified by the Millennium Development Goals set out at the G7 summit, were the devastating statistics surrounding maternal mortality.
Mothers, the very heart of every social network, are dying. Daily. Minute-by-minute. This is not due to a lack of scientific or healthcare knowledge but purely a matter of poor economics and lack of resource. Something can be done but needs strong support and conviction to truly change the future. What was shared at this dinner were the facts and the statistics behind maternal mortality, and also the hope for the future.
