Annie Lennox shared thoughts, memories and reflections during ‘Annie Lennox – An Evening of Music and Conversation’, a one night only event of conversation, musical performance and visual imagery last night (4th March 2018) at Sadler’s Wells Theatre.
The truly special event saw Annie in conversation with BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley, sharing previously unheard stories from her life and career. This fascinating insight into one of music’s most legendary icons, was interspersed with music performances, both acoustically (with Annie accompanying herself on the piano) and with a full band. The set list included classics from Eurythmics and solo repertoire, such as ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)’, ‘Here Comes The Rain Again’, ‘Walking on Broken Glass’, and ‘Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves’.
All proceeds from the evening ‘Annie Lennox – An Evening of Music and Conversation’ were donated to The Circle, the charitable organisation she founded to help create transformative change in the lives of girls and women facing the challenges of disempowerment across the globe.
The evening was supported by Gucci (and their Chime for Change campaign) and Citygrove property development company, and included a reception hosted by The Circle that was attended by its members including Livia Firth and her husband Colin, Lady Jane Wellesley, Miriam Gonzalez Durantez and her husband Nick Clegg, Actress Maryam D’Abo and eminent QC’s Jessica Simor and Melanie Hall, along with key music industry leaders including Darcus Beese, Nicola Tuer and Bob Shennan. Other notable guests in the audience included Jeremy Corbyn, Sadiq and Saadiya Khan and Marc Almond.
