Sullen building-Sullen sky…There’s a certain type of construction that went up like a nasty rash all over Britain between the 60’s and 70’s. It’s persistent signature is the colour of cement and concrete..Angst Grey. Here’s a typical example. It goes well with a brooding sky. They both complement each other perfectly. I’ve never found solace or comfort in these buildings..They emit a harsh edginess that I find almost intolerable. God knows how architects ever thought that people could co exist happily in these ugly boxes. They had no charm when they were built and they haven’t improved with age..Wednesday play anyone???
