Sending out a warm and cosy glow to everyone everywhere from my dinner table tonight. Today was Charles Dickens 200th birthday..so let’s raise a glass or two to the legendary gentleman, and celebrate his extraordinary legacy. Living in London, you are constantly surrounded by remainders of the Victorians..
They’re everywhere….In memorials..architecture..parks..bridges..market places..train stations..libraries..churches.. schools..hospitals..cemeteries..underground systems and sewage systems..drinking fountains..etc. Mr Dickens gives us a portal to enter his domain..A time tunnel back to the century before the arrival of electricity..cars..airplanes..computers..telephones..microwaves..electric guitars..mini skirts and the BBC..and much much more! If only we could all meet on some street corner on the crossing point between past and present..What a jolly time we’d have!
