1989

In February Annie won her third BRIT Award for Best Female Artist

By September, the album ‘We Too Are One’ became the duo’s second number one. It was a huge success staying in the album charts well into 1990

1988

In June, Annie and Dave performed at Nelson Mandela’s 70th Birthday Tribute. Their performance at Wembley was one of the highlights, the acoustic version of ‘You Placed A Chill In My Heart’ was sensational.

In December, Annie Lennox records ‘Put A Little Love In Your Heart’ with Al Green, a soulful version of a Jackie DeShannon song. It goes top 30 in the UKand top ten in the US.

1986

In February Annie Lennox won her second BRIT Award for Best British Female

As Eurythmics Annie scooped a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo for ?Missionary Man? and an Ivor Novello Award,  BEST CONTEMPORARY SONG ‘It’s Alright (Baby’s Coming Back)’ which was written by ANNIE LENNOX / DAVID A STEWART

The Album ‘Revenge’ went to number three in the UK (and stayed in the charts for one year). In the US it made top 20.

1985

In May, the album ‘Be Yourself Tonight’ went top ten in the UK and US

By July, Annie experienced throat problems after doing a massive tour, which meant she couldn’t perform at the Live Aid charity concert. The same month  ‘There Must Be An Angel (Playing WIth My Heart)’ topped the UK chart and stayed in the chart for 13 weeks.

Annie’s duet with Aretha Franklin ‘Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves’ went top ten in the UK in November and top 20 in the US.

Annie also made her acting debut in ‘Revolution’ with Al Pacino and Donald Sutherland.

1984

In January a 175 date tour began, followed by Album ‘Touch’, in February. This topped the UK charts. In the same month Annie won her first BRIT Award for Best British Female Artist

Come September, the duo won an MTV Award in the US for Best New Video with ‘Sweet Dreams’

‘Sexcrime (Nineteen Eighty Four)’ reached number four in the charts in November. It was music from the movie 1984 starring John Hurt.

1983

‘Sweet Dreams’ reached number two in the UK charts and number one in the US charts.

‘Love Is A Stranger’ went to number six in the UK in April, ‘Who’s That Girl’, hit number three in July.

Annie and Dave win an Ivor Novello Award for Songwriters of the Year

1981

Eurythmics were signed to RCA. They had their first chart debut and their first tour.

1980

In October The Tourists disband. By December Eurythmics were formed.
